Today, the Washington Redskins released their Training Camp schedule for the fall of 2013. It will be the first time that the team leaves Ashburn, Virginia to head south to Richmond, Virginia to hold camp since 2002 when they were in Carlsbad, Pennsylvania.
Camp will consist of 17 two-a-days in which the team will have two full practices a day. However, NFL rules and regulations determine how long the practices are, how much contact is allowed, and what the players should be wearing in terms of their padding.
The practices are are set to begin on Thursday, July 25 and run through Friday, August 16. They will be held in the teams new, but currently under construction, $10 million facility in the state of Virginia’s capital, Richmond.
Teams leaving their home city or area for training camp isn’t uncommon. There are only seven NFL teams that will be holding training camp at the same place where the will play during the season. Those teams include the Browns, Broncos, Chargers, Dolphins, Falcons, Lions, and Saints.
